DIVISION

A summer at CGI is a magical Jewish Day Camp experience. Campers experience a world of love, friendship, wonder, and discovery in a warm and nurturing environment. Each division has its own Division Head and dedicated counselors who are chosen to meet the needs of that age group.

Middle/Senior Division

Middle Division campers are entering FIRST, SECOND or THIRD grade.
Senior Division campers are entering FOURTH grade and up. 

  • Weekly Specialty Camps: Green Week, Hip Hop Week with LPAC, Theater Week, Krav Maga Week, Pottery Week, Circus Week and Culinary/Technology Week
  • Afternoon Electives: Twice a week, campers choose their 45 minute afternoon elective such as sports clinics, intensive tennis, cooking, jewelry making, woodworking, lego, hip hop, ceramics, magic and more!
  • The afternoons are action packed with sports, weekly theme activities, daily swim instruction,
    water slides, archery, tennis, golf, special events, and creative arts.

1- 1:45 – Sports (Soccer)

Above schedule is a sample. ActiVities vary each day and include nature, art, ceramics, ninja warrior, baseball, flag football, gaga, carnivals, songwriting, team building, and much more!

JUNIOR DIVISION

Junior Division campers are entering 3’s Program, Pre-K or Kindergarten.
(campers must have turned 3 before their first day of camp)

  • Half day option for 3’s & Pre-K (4-year-olds) 9:00am-1:00pm
  • Full day program 9:00am-3:15 pm
  • This program is specifically designed for the transition years between preschool and kindergarten.
  • One experienced preschool teacher and one college-age counselor are assigned to each bunk of 14 children in maximum.
  • Activities include daily sports clinics and swim instruction (American Red Cross swim program), waterslides, cooking, tennis, gymnastics, science, painting, nature, specialty crafts, challah baking, Jewish music and art, yoga, special events, shows and more!

Mini Gan

Ages 18 months – 3 years old
On our Preschool Campus at 75 Mason Street in Greenwich

  • Half-day program 9:00am-1:00pm
  • 12 children per group maximum
  • Two experienced preschool teachers and a junior counselor are assigned to each group.
  • We welcome parents/caregiver to stay 30 minutes the first 3 days to help your camper if this is their first experience with separation
  • Children do not have to be toilet trained and we will work with you on this endeavor!
  • Mini Gan activities include sports, nature, art, yoga, gymnastics, food art, challah baking, music,  and more!

CIT Program

CITs are entering EIGHTH & NINTH grade.

Our Counselor-In-Training program gives our campers the opportunity to enjoy the fun of Camp Gan Israel while honing their leadership skills.

  • In the morning, CITs assist in assigned younger bunks.
  • In the afternoon, CITs create their own schedule of fun with the help of the CIT counselor.
  • An experienced Program Director oversees the program and provides participants with
  • feedback and evaluation throughout the summer.
  • Weekly Leadership training and community service activities.
  • Flexible weekly scheduling is available.
  • Each CIT receives a $25 honorarium per week
  • CITs are not listed on counselor list
  • Space is limited.
  • Community Service credits are available

Ages 11- 13

 

Our Counselor In Training (CID program has been redesigned to specifically assist preteens during the transition year between camper and Junior counselor. Their summer experience will be more than Just another year at camp Gan”. CITs wJII now take on new responsibilities and have the chance to make a positive Impact on younger campers! CITs are still campers and parents must complete an onllne appllcatlon for the program.

Here are some of the updates and details about the program:

  • The Counselor-in-Training Program gives our oldest campers an understanding of what it takes to be a successful member of our camp team, while still enjoying all the activities they love as campers
  • A designated CIT leader/coordinator will work closely with each CIT to facilitate leadership opportunities and personal growth. There will also be weekly leadership training workshops and skill building seminars led by our head staff.
  • Guided by an experienced CIT Program Coordinator, CITs will develop their decision-making and problem-solving skills by assisting with daily activities, as well as camp-wide special events, such as Color War, Circus Carnival and Mitzvah Olympics.
  • CITs will choose from an array of daily special activities including cooking, hip hop, sports, advanced Ninja Warrior obstacles, Intensive art week, ceramics tennis, and much more. • Program includes weekly entertainment and trips to Lake Com pounce, Bungee Jumping, Circus, SHvermans Farm, Dave & Busters, RPM Raceway and many more camper favorites! Plus, optional overnight to Club Getaway and Six Flags!
  • CITs will learn and model counseling and teaching skills, become respected and beloved mentors to younger campers, and receive formal performance evaluations, giving them concrete and valuable feedback on their experience.

Leaders In Training (LIT)

Leaders In Training are entering TENTH grade.

  • LITs support counselors in assigned bunks.
  • An experienced Program Director oversees the program and provides participants with feedback
    and evaluation throughout the summer.
  • Attend formal weekly leadership training sessions.
  • Attend staff training prior to the start of camp, and partake in morning and afternoon staff meetings.
  • Learn skills necessary to become Jr. Counselors and receive priority when interviewing as staff
    for the following year.
  • Flexible weekly scheduling is available.
  • There is no cost for this program but LIT’s must fill out a staff application and go through the interview process. LITs receive a $50 weekly stipend and must be available to work the full summer.

Intensive Theater Week

Imagine the perfect summer theater experience…a dazzling show…other dedicated theater kids… incredible feelings of accomplishment and pride…great professional director Janice Steinberg…fun & learning…and the applause…all in just 30 hours — across two weeks! 

Our popular Intensive Theater Camp will now span two weeks in order to give the participating campers more time to learn the material, leading to much less stress and even more fun!  This summer, campers ages 7+ will present the adorable You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown.
Charles Schulz’s whole Peanuts gang will make you fall in love with them and their adorable antics.  Whether you’re keen to fly with the Red Baron, moon over the Moonlight Sonata, or just do your best to find “Happiness,” You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown is a crowd-pleasing classic filled with hysterical views on life and memorable, catchy songs.

IMPORTANT AUDITION INFORMATION

Video auditions must be submitted by Wednesday, July 3 (info below)  

Video Audition Details:
Please send in a video made on your phone of your camper singing 8-12 bars ONLY of a Broadway song of his/her choice.  The kids will be playing kids, so keep songs young and upbeat.  Make sure your child sings with personality and energy!  Please also send a video of him/her reading one of the attached monologues. Videos should be emailed to  Janice@alfacreative.com along with a  completed audition form. Larger files can be sent via  www.wetransfer.com to the same email address. Sample audition monologues here.

Some campers may be asked to submit a second video as a “call back.”
